We are an undergraduate-led branch of Morning Sign Out based in the University of California, Davis. Morning Sign Out is an online publication group found across multiple university campuses that aims to make scientific and medical knowledge more accessible to the public.
Our MissionA "sign-out" is the healthcare process where patients are handed off to the next shift of healthcare workers. All medical professionals practice sign-outs, including physicians, nurses, and social workers. Professionals must accurately but concisely communicate information about the patient to the next shift so that the patient continues to receive the care they need.
Today, there is a large knowledge gap between the scientific world and the general public. Often, this gap leads to strain and distrust. Our mission is to make science and medicine understandable and engaging, all while keeping the most important information—just like sign-outs. To do this, we write about recent research in plain language. Additionally, we engage in community outreach by collaborating with other UC Davis clubs, including Spanish in Healthcare and HerScope. |
